Chasing Victory, Like Joy

“Heroism to her wasn’t about scoring the winning run with a ballpark of people looking on, or igniting a revolution that scorches a nation as it carries you to the presidency. No, her brand of heroism was about doing the small things, day after day after day, that can heal a people and hold a country together.”

Great quote from Tim Wendell’s, Castro’s Curveball that could apply to Hillary Clinton in today’s election cycle.

The late, great, Jack Gilbert says it best: “The beauty
That is of many days. Steady and clear.
It is the normal excellence, of long accomplishment.”

Burn Minus Gravity

I am here, holding on,

Trying to keep the pieces of my small world

from flying off in all directions.

But you

You have let the gravity fall away.

Here, you studied how balls of flame burn

when the variable of gravity is lifted.

There, the flame studies you.

How to burn so brightly, free of gravity,

That you illuminate all below

Lifting my small world a little higher.

Closer to you.
